More thoughts on Chivalry...
A short while ago Shutterjane wrote about chivalry on her blog. This is a subject that relates to "The Meaning of Life" and "What the hell are men and women doing together?" In fact, it is one of those of those subjects that gets the cogs in my head turning. So, what does it mean to be chivalrous? Surely the old cliché "It's the little things in life that matter" is appropriate? Those things that don't cost money.
My thoughts on chivalry for the modern knight, what makes a man a modern knight…
- Opening a door for a woman and letting her walk through first.
- Actually listening to a woman when she speaks and not faking an interest.
- Being interested in what a woman is saying. It is a great compliment to a woman when a man says three days later, "I was thinking about what you said the other day and…" Even if he did stubbornly disagree with her at the time.
- Being helpless when a woman cries for no reason and asking "What is the appropriate response now?"
- Sacrificing watching sport because a woman is busy having a totally uncalled for emotional moment.
- Being a man and being proud of who you are.
I know, I know, the proverbial can of worms has been opened and needless to say there are a couple of people out there raising eyebrows. In the words of Forrest Gump: "And that is all I have to say about that."

Chivalry is the Essence of
Life!
Nothing nicer than a man
with good old fashioned
ways, but sadly, today, not
"in" anymore.
Okay, now give us the definitive guide to the 'damsel in distress' - after all, a knight can't exist in a vacuum ;-)
Guys pushing past women
to get their own bones
faster than a flash, thru
open tram or bus doors,
stampeding to get the
first free seat (smirking
contendly),
Bombing thru open lift
doors, jumping queues, again
just to be first (while
we,re waiting our turn)
*Scheisse*
We,re not expecting major
male offerings, just some
home grown Chivalry.
As I said I have nothing further to say on the subject but The Viking did message me and say "Glad to be of service." Arrogant I tell you. :-)
P & E: Homegrown boys are better than anything else to offer, if they come with chivalry it is even better.
Kyk: You, my friend, are my inspiration. I am working on it. Thanks for the much needed giggle.
