Why? What the ...?
Okay, there is no editing, no fancy language, just from the heart after about one glass of wine too many.
And now I don't know where to start or how to express myself. And what do I want to express, anger? Anger at ignorance? Anger at inept upbringing?
I have a friend, someone I would consider a good friend. He is an absolute gentleman, he will treat a women so well he will get walked all over, he is an absolute honey. But what a ... well, is he a racist? Or is he just ignorant? He doesn't see people of other race as humans. I tried to ask him where he draws the line, are people with slanted eyes human? What about the Eskimos? What about North American Indians and Mexicans? His answer was just that their skin must be white...
What the .....? What the hell is wrong with these people? How can you bring your children up with this totally screwed up, messed up ideas? And in an age where we have seen what treating people like sub-humans does and where it leads?
How can you go to bed with a clear conscience at night knowing that you think that other creatures walking on this planet do not deserve your respect as fellow living creatures because of their skin colour? How do you look yourself in the mirror?
Before anyone thinks I am on a soap box, I am aware that other cultures are different, I am aware that other people have different skin colours, I am aware that other cultures believe in their ancestors and muti and animal spirits and gods of many descriptions. I don't have a problem with that. I respect anyone's right to believe in what they believe in and live the way they chose as long as this belief doesn't disrespect any other belief or life form. And I am a Christian but I don't expect everyone else to be.
How can a logical thinking human being raise their children with a hatred and anger towards another living being because of their skin colour? How much energy gets wasted because of this hatred?
Can the bus driver please stop the bus because I want to get off?
